In our previous bulletin, we mentioned the Congress in Italy and featured two individuals who had received financial support from the IAAR.
The Congress took place from 23rd April to 2nd May 2024. It was a memorable meeting with 130 PRH professionals from 28 countries.
IAAR paid for the air fares and/or accommodation for 18 participants and 5 translators who on a voluntary basis translated into three languages (English, Spanish and French) for 10 days. This was made possible by the sponsorship of ‘Los Amigos de André Rochais’ (Spain) and several individual donations for the Congress.
The logistical organisation was in the hands of the Italian volunteers. They provided free transfers to and from the airport and attended to every need. The first few days were cold and rainy. They provided warm clothing for people from Africa and Asia who were unprepared for the cold.
The volunteers were also the driving force behind the PRH shop. For months, several teams had collaborated to make items to be sold in aid of the Association. At every break and free time, these volunteers were tirelessly at their post. They were delighted to introduce the IAAR to new educators.
In the video we hear from two of them, Sara and Patricia. For them, solidarity is not an abstract concept.
