Lutgart, Bart and Lutgard gave free rein to their creativity and raised money for the IAAR, each in their own striking and individual way.

Lutgart: I give workshops to organisations and to groups of volunteers from different associations. The workshops are about volunteering, with themes such as connection, a different view on people, or simply ‘listening’. The corona pandemic brought everything to a standstill, but during the latest wave there were requests for online workshops in order to get ready for the new start. The proceeds of these workshops and of the first live workshops, now that these are possible once more, went to the IAAR.

Bart: A good friend of mine spent part of his life in Congo. When his granddaughter got married, she and her partner not only wanted to unite as a couple, but also to link this beautiful event to a good cause, a sign of hope. Furthermore, they wanted the wedding to be as personal as possible, from the ceremony, the location, and everything, to the smallest detail of the decorations. They combined both requirements by asking me to make hand-turned ceramic bowls, which they sold after the wedding in order to support a project filled with hope, in Congo, through the IAAR.

Lutgard: I’ve wanted to play the ‘living-infectiously’ game at work for years. That is a game based on personal capacities, developed by PRH Flanders. When I turned 65 in April, I gave it to my colleagues as a gift, because that is how I experience this game: as a gift for the participants. Since I have everything I need, instead of a birthday present I asked everyone to rather make a donation to IAAR.

It was a very nice evening. I’ve played the game on several occasions, but there’s seldom been so much laughter and it has never lasted this long. All participants were very surprised by the reactions they received from colleagues who knew them well or less well. The game released a lot of positivity and humour in everyone.
